Fitness Center in Chicago

The Overview

At PXM we strive to incorporate many of the core elements of everyday functional movements and cross training in a way that enables us to grow and improve physically while still maintaining safety. We try to safely highlight and incorporate the basic human movements; squatting, pulling, pressing, jumping, lifting …In doing so we incorporate different variations and individuality to each one of our workouts. Every class will be different in the experience yet consistent with improving an individual's overall physical performance. PXM Group Training is a great mix of strength work, high and low skill gymnastics, and general conditioning and endurance.

What to expect?

All of PXM Group Classes are coach-led and follow a planned progression roughly 60 minutes in duration and follow this basic structure:

  • Specialized and detailed Warm up approach
  • Strength/Skill portion
  • Short to long duration workout pieces depending on the intended stimulus for the day.

Workouts can be adjusted in weight, intensity, and certain mechanics in order to scale to the experience and fitness levels of any individual, be it a total fitness beginner or elite competitive athlete.

A certified PXM Coach will guide you through warming up, followed by movement instruction and demonstration for the workout. The coach will also assess and correct any movement performed by you during the workout.

Mobility

Inspired by Functional Range Conditioning - FRC, which is a trademarked system of mobility and joint control, our mobility class is one of the best ways to regain control over your body and obtain a deeper understanding of mobility concepts.

By incorporating this system we can help increase ones active, useable ranges of motion by simultaneously improving: -Articular/joint mobility -Strength & Resilience -Neurological control. In essence, this invaluable, and innovative training system improves the ability to control, and move one's own body.

Yoga

Yoga is an integral part of our product. From increased body awareness and mindfulness to developing greater movement range of motion we have been using this discipline to counterbalance some of the more intense hours in the week.

Either using it as a sole approach to fitness or combining it with the array classes at PXM, Yoga has been proven to generate great results over time.

Form & Function

Form and Function is a lower-intensity class dedicated to refreshing, developing and strengthening the foundational movement skills, individual progressions and efficient flow between movements.

These can then be applied to our traditional classes, open gym or other specialty programs. Each week highlights a different movement or skill to practice and integrate. Form and Function is open to and appropriate for all athlete levels and is a great time to get additional “deep-dive” coaching on technique and skills.

It’s a great space for newer athletes to brush up on “new” movements, or for any athlete looking to refine and tweak their performance and skills. All ability and skill levels.
